2027: Warri Group Urges APC Chieftain Promise Lawuru to Contest Reps Seat

Leaders and stakeholders from the Warri Federal Constituency have urged Promise Lawuru, an All Progressives Congress chieftain, to contest the House of Representatives seat in the 2027 general elections.

The call was made during a press conference held at Bon Hotel De’ Tranquil in Udu by members of the Warri Federal Constituency Peoples Forum, comprising representatives from the Ijaw, Urhobo, and Itsekiri ethnic groups.

Speaking on behalf of the forum, Dcn. Engr. Godspower Benekiegha said the appeal followed consultations among stakeholders who believe Lawuru possesses the leadership qualities needed to represent Warri North, Warri South, and Warri South West Local Government Areas.

The forum also commended Sheriff Oborevwori, Governor of Delta State, for what they described as pragmatic leadership, while passing a vote of confidence in him and Nigeria’s President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

According to the group, the Warri Federal Constituency requires a vibrant and accessible representative capable of addressing economic challenges, creating job opportunities, and promoting development through effective legislation.

Women leaders at the event also pledged their support for Lawuru’s potential candidacy, citing his record of supporting women and grassroots initiatives.

Responding to the appeal, Lawuru thanked the people of the constituency for their confidence in him but stated that he would consult with his family, political associates, and party leaders before announcing his decision.
