According to a communiqué read by the National Publicity Secretary of the caretaker committee, Jungudo Mohammed, the timetable was designed to align with the electoral schedule released by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
The schedule indicates that the submission of the party’s membership register to INEC will take place on April 10, while primaries for State Houses of Assembly are slated for May 2.
National Assembly primaries are scheduled for May 9, followed by governorship primaries on May 16, before the presidential primaries on May 23.
The NEC also reaffirmed preparations for the party’s national convention scheduled for March 29 and 30, where a new National Working Committee will be elected in line with the party’s constitution.
The meeting commended the caretaker committee led by Abdulrahman Mohammed for stabilising the party during the ongoing transition.
The committee also welcomed recent judgments by the Court of Appeal of Nigeria affirming the leadership of the caretaker committee and nullifying the November 2025 convention that produced a rival leadership led by Kabiru Turaki.

Speaking at the meeting, Wike insisted that the planned national convention must proceed as scheduled, rejecting suggestions to establish another caretaker committee.
He also dismissed claims that his role in the administration of the ruling All Progressives Congress undermined his loyalty to the PDP, stressing that he remains a committed member of the opposition party.
The meeting was attended by several PDP leaders, including former governors Samuel Ortom and Ifeanyi Ikpeazu, the party’s national secretary Samuel Anyanwu, and Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Mao Ohuabunwa.
The development comes amid ongoing efforts to resolve the protracted leadership crisis within the PDP following disputes over the party’s November 2025 national convention.
