Suspected terrorists linked to Boko Haram attacked a military camp in Damboa Local Government Area in the early hours of Monday.
The attackers reportedly stormed the 25 Task Force Brigade around 12:50 a.m., barely 30 minutes after another suspected terrorist attack occurred in Ajilari Cross and nearby communities in Maiduguri.

Residents said the initial attack in Maiduguri triggered sporadic shooting, although security forces later brought the situation under control.
Confirming the development, the spokesperson of the Nigeria Police Force in Borno State, Nahum Daso, said joint security operatives successfully thwarted the terrorists’ attempt to infiltrate Damboa.
“In another separate incident, at about 0100HRS, joint security operatives thwarted a suspected terrorist attack in Damboa LGA. Normalcy has been restored; more details are underway,” he said in a brief statement.
Although full details of the incident were still sketchy as of the time of filing this report, residents confirmed hearing heavy gunfire near the military base during the attempted attack.
A resident, who requested anonymity, said the terrorists attempted to enter the town through the military facility but were repelled by troops after fierce resistance.
“It was a horrible night. When we heard that terrorists were trying to infiltrate Damboa through the military camp at the 25 Task Force Brigade, the news spread quickly. We thank God for the efforts of our gallant troops,” the resident said.
The incident occurred barely two weeks after terrorists attacked and burnt down a military base in Ngoshe, killing several civilians and abducting more than 300 residents.
Shortly after that assault, a group identified as Jama’atu Ahlis Sunna Lidda’awati wal-Jihad claimed responsibility and threatened to extend attacks to Maiduguri and Abuja.
Meanwhile, the Media Information Officer of the Joint Task Force, Northeast Operation Hadin Kai, Sanni Uba, could not be reached for comments as calls to his phone were not returned.
