Suspected Boko Haram insurgents have reportedly demanded a total ransom of N3.52 billion for the release of 176 abducted residents from Woro community in Kaiama Local Government Area.

The victims, largely women and children, were kidnapped during coordinated attacks on Woro and nearby communities in February 2026.

Sources disclosed that the terrorists are demanding N20 million per victim, and have already contacted intermediaries to negotiate with families and the government.

However, talks appear to have stalled, as the Kwara State government is reportedly unwilling to meet the ransom demand.

A disturbing video released by the abductors showed dozens of victims, including nursing mothers and children, in visibly harsh conditions, while accusing authorities of downplaying the scale of the abduction.

State officials say efforts are ongoing with security agencies to verify details from the footage and secure the safe release of the victims, though no breakthrough has been announced so far.
