However, members of the CWC, a local security outfit established by the state government, were alerted and quickly mobilised to confront the attackers, leading to a violent exchange of gunfire.
Sources said both the bandits and the security operatives suffered casualties during the clash, with at least 15 people confirmed dead.
Several injured persons were reportedly taken to nearby hospitals for treatment, while those who died were buried the following morning in accordance with Islamic rites.
The Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Nasir Mu’azu, confirmed the incident, stating that the clash occurred on March 17 in Falale and Kadobe village.
He assured residents that security forces have restored order and stabilised the affected communities.
“The incident resulted in the loss of 15 lives, but security forces have since restored order,” he said.
Katsina State has continued to face serious security challenges linked to banditry and armed attacks.
Recent incidents include attacks in Musawa and Dandume, where multiple lives were lost, as well as an earlier attack in Faskari.
Despite these challenges, security agencies have recorded some successes, including an operation in Danmusa where several bandits were reportedly neutralised.
