With the development, Eid-el-Fitr will be celebrated on Friday across the Kingdom.
A statement shared by Haramain noted, “The Crescent of month of Shawwal 1447 was NOT SIGHTED anywhere in the Kingdom today, subsequently the month of Ramadan will complete 30 days tomorrow and Eid Al Fitr will be on Friday.”
In Nigeria, the Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammad Abubakar, had earlier called on Muslims to observe the sky for the new moon on Wednesday.
The development comes as the Federal Government declared Thursday and Friday as public holidays to mark the Eid-el-Fitr celebrations.
Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, urged Muslim faithful to uphold the values of sacrifice, discipline, and compassion, while calling on Nigerians to pray for peace, unity, and stability in the country.
He also encouraged moderation in celebrations and support for the less privileged, reaffirming government’s commitment to national unity and peaceful coexistence.
