An angry mob on Friday set ablaze a truck belonging to the Dangote Cement Company after it crushed a secondary school pupil to death.

The sad incident which occured in Ilaro, Yewa-South Local Government Area of Ogun State, saw the mob burn down the truck loaded with cement.

Confirming the incident, the Spokesman for the Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps, Mr Babatunde Akinbiyi, said the mob also destroyed the truck of the fire service that moved to the scene to put out the fire.

According to the spokesman, the angry mob prevented the fire service from putting out the fire, leading to the total destruction of the truck.

Akinbiyi further explained that the dead pupil had just closed from school when the incident occurred at Sabo Junction in Ilaro.

The TRACE spokesman attributed the cause of the incident to loss of control due to speeding, noting that the truck was burnt beyond recognition.

“The presumed dead victim has been deposited at the mortuary in Ilaro General Hospital. Traffic was affected because pupils trooped in a large number to set the truck on fire,” Akinbiyi said.
