Court Orders Release of Igboho’s Wife

The Cour D’Appel De Cotonou in Benin Republic has ordered the release of Ropo, the wife of Yoruba Nation agitator, Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho.

The court ordered Ropo’s release after Thursday’s hearing in Cotonou, the Benin Republic capital.

Ropo was released as the court found out she was not guilty of any offense.

The court however, returned Igboho to the custody of Brigade Criminelle in Cotonou, Benin Republic, as the court adjourned his case till Friday, July 23, 2021.

Recall that Igboho and his wife, Ropo, were arrested at the Cardinal Bernardin International Airport, Cotonou on Monday while trying to catch a flight to Germany.

“Yes, she has been released,” National Chairman of Ilana Omo Oodua, Prof Wale Adeniran, told newsmen.

Counsels of the government refused to address journalists after the hearing.

However, Ìgbòho’s lawyer, Yomi Aliyu (SAN) while expressing optimism for his client, dvised that “this is not the best time to say anything on the case.”
