A former Registrar of the Delta State University (DELSU), Abraka, Mr. Ejiroghene Udjo, has died, Daily Report Nigeria can confirm.

Mr. Udjo reportedly died following his involvement in a fatal car accident on Monday.

Confirming Udjo’s death, the Vice-Chancellor of DELSU, Professor Andy Egwunyenga, said the school was informed of the sad incident on Tuesday.

Egwunyenga who spoke with Oasis Magazine, stated that the late former registrar was one of the very best hands in Delsu.

He said;

“He was a very good Registrar, particularly with his gift of writing very clearly. He wrote very well; he was able to organize and had very good human relations.”

“In his time as Registrar, the university witnessed a lot of development. We will miss him very much. I was very anxious awaiting his return from where he went on leave of absence as a Registrar as well to another institution in the southern part of the state.

“We were just hoping that he will return after serving in the School of Maritime Technology where he went to help set up the Registry department.

“When the news broke this morning, I was very devastated because I was already preparing where he will stay at least for a year before retiring formally because he was going to return to the university.

”I was going to deploy his writing skills to help my office because it is not very common to find people who know how to write very well. He was a very experienced public servant and university administrator and the university will miss him very much.

“For me, it is the end of a very wonderful era and I only wish that God will have mercy on his soul and reward him with heaven which is the goal of every human that lives here.”

The Vice-Chancellor further on behalf of the school condoled with the family and close associates of Mr Udjo.

The late scholar is survived by a wife, Mrs Betty Udjo, who is also a staff of DELSU, and four children, alongside an aged father.
