One Halifa Abdullahi has been ordered to sweep a mosque for 30 days by a  Sharia court in Fagge, Kano state, after he was found guilty of stealing the Holy Qur’an .

The man, a resident of Yola quarters in Kano metropolis, had broken into a mosque at Tudun Maliki area of the state, on Sunday, and stole eight copies of the Holy Qur’an.

Abdullahi was apprehended by security guards of the mosque and was subsequently handed over to police at ‘Filin Hockey’ division, and charged to the Islamic Shariah court on Tuesday at Yan Allo, Fagge.

In terms of landmass, the mosque is considered as the biggest in Kano metropolis.

Abdullahi however pleaded guilty to the offence after the police prosecutor, Abdul Wada read the charges against him.

Bello Musa-Khalid, the presiding judge, In his judgment, ordered Abdullahi to sweep the Juma’at mosque for 30 days as punishment.
