Lightning Kills Two in Osun
Two girls who are related were struck dead by lightning in Ikirun, headquarters of Ifelodun Local Government Area, Osun State.
The incident took place at about 4:30 pm on Sunday, August 29 at Ogo-Oluwa area of Orisa Elejin community.

Mary Ojuolape, a resident of the community said the young girls were crossing a field during a light rain when they were struck.
“They were crossing a school football field around the Ogo-Oluwa area when they were struck down by lightning.” she said.
“I don’t know their names but they were siblings. The incident is sad and the entire community is sad over the incident.” Dayo another resident said.
Hassan Okanlawon the Chairman of the Ifelodun Local Government Area, who confirmed the incident, said the bodies were found in an Arabic school playground after the lightning struck.
The deceased lived with their grandmother in the area Okanlawon said he also added that when he visited the scene of the incident he was told the girls were asked to buy foodstuffs for dinner.
“On their way, lightning struck them and they both died on the spot. They were living with their grandmother. One of them was from Delta State and the other, Ondo State. I was told that we could not immediately remove their bodies. They said Sango adherents must perform some rites. I was informed that some Sango worshippers from Ede were on their way to the scene.” the LG boss said.
