BREAKING: 3 Policemen Dead, 2 Injured as Gunmen Attack Checkpoint in Anambra | Daily Report Nigeria

Three operatives of the Anambra State Police Command have been killed by gunmen during a shootout while on duty in a checkpoint.

The incident occured about 9 am on Sunday morning along the Ukaegbu /Ezeiweka road in Onitsha, Anambra state.

According to the report, two other policemen were left injured after the shoot-out.

The hoodlums also set ablaze the operation vehicle of the policemen.

An eyewitness said the gummen may have acted out of anger towards the extortion of road users by the police operatives.

“Any time they station there, the residents feel relieved because the place is a dangerous area. But the way they extort motorists is what people don’t like,” the witness told newsmen.

The Anambra state Police Public Relations Officer Ikenga Tochukwu, confirmed the incident, saying “The information is still sketchy. I will get back to you.”
