The House of Representatives has thrown its weight behind the Senate by asking President Muhammadu Buhari to designate bandits as terrorists.

The bandits have been a menace in the North-West and parts of the North-Central geopolitical zone in recent times.

The Senate had called for the bandits to be designated as terrorists on Wednesday.

Babajimi Benso, Chairman of the House Committee on Defence, during Thursday’s plenary, moved a motion of urgent public importance to urge the chamber to back the Senate.

In response to the motion, Speaker Femi Gbajabiamila asked if any lawmaker was against the motion but they all chorused, “No!”

The motion was unanimously adopted by the House of Representatives through a voice vote.
