The Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Projects, SERAP, has rejected the conditional lifting of the ban on Twitter by President Muhammadu Buhari.

Buhari had directed for the ban on the microblogging platform to be lifted when conditions given by his government are met.

SERAP in its reaction said it rejects the “conditional” lifting of the ban on Twitter.

it then called on President Buhari to immediately and unconditionally lift the suspension of Twitter operations in Nigeria.

SERAP noted that the unconditional lifting of the ban on Twitter would allow Nigerians to exercise their right to freedom of expression.

SERAP in a tweet wrote;
“BREAKING: We reject ‘conditional’ lifting of ban on Twitter in Nigeria by the Buhari administration.

“President Buhari must immediately and unconditionally lift the illegal suspension of Twitter, and allow Nigerians to freely exercise their right to freedom of expression.”

Meanwhile, President Muhammadu Buhari has boasted that no previous government can match his achievements in just six years.
He made the boast while addressing Nigerians during the nationwide broadcast to mark the country’s 61st Independence Day.
