Today is a special day in the history of Nigeria, the giant of Africa.
Nigeria is marking its anniversary as a sovereign nation today, Friday 1st of October, 2021.
Though, it is not her first anniversary, it’s first of its kind as the great nation has never marked her 61st independence anniversary ever before.

Recall that today’s Federal Republic of Nigeria had been previously ruled by the British prior to October of 1960 when independence movement took place.
Following the movement, Nigeria was therefore granted independence on October 1st 1960.
Nigeria as coined by British journalist Flora Shaw on January 8, 1897 started marking her anniversary every 1st of October thenceforth.
Similarly, every October 1st is a day off from work and school for a majority of the population.
Most businesses are also closed on this day as everyone joins in the celebration of his/ her country’s freedom day.

In the same manner, Spanish LaLiga, also joined us Nigerians in celebrating our 61st independence anniversary.
LaLiga today Friday, resorted to its verified Facebook account to rejoice with Nigerians thus;
