"There is no Difference Between Unemployment and Insecurity" - NLC | Daily Report Nigeria

Unemployment in Nigeria has been described as a time bomb by the Labour Congress and if not urgently handled by the Federal Government, there will be no peace in the country.

Ayuba Wabba, the President of Nigeria Labour Congress, during the 40th-anniversary celebration of the Labour Writers Association of Nigeria made this known.

Wabba said, “There is no difference between unemployment and insecurity; it is a fact and has been established.

“Decent jobs are very important because without decent jobs there will be no security, no social progress for everybody. That is why the SDG 8.7 has been tied to having decent jobs.”

According to him with was is happening today, the organised labour needs every worker to be more collaborated and sensitized so as to be on same page and address some of the things that aren’t right.

Minister of Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige, who was represented by the Special Adviser on Media, Nwachukwu Obidiwe, said the current administration in six years and five months has been very effective in job creation despite the inherited socioeconomic downturn.

According to him with the increasing population in Nigeria there will always be hundreds of thousands of youths graduating every year into the labour market.
