Die Roten whose record defeat remains a 7-0 home loss to Schalke 04 in the Bundesliga back in 1976 has also suffered a defeat of historic proportions.

The defeat had seen Julian Nagesmann’s men being knocked out of the German Cup in the second round.

Prior to the 5-goal defeat, the visitors had previously succumbed to a 5-2 loss against Borussia Dortmund in the 2012 final.

In the game, Mönchengladbach had had three goals in the 1st half with Kouadio Kone scoring in the 2nd minute before Ramy Bensebaini netted the 2nd and 3rd goals in the 15th and 21st minute respectively.

The hosts finally secured the 4th and the last goals through Breel Embolo who scored in the 51st and 57th minutes.
