Marilia Mendonca, a wave making and a shinning young star in the Brazilian music industry, has died in a plan crash.
Officials say the 26-year-old “sertanejo” singer died when a small plane she was travelling in crashed in Minas Gerais state.
The Latin Grammy-winner’s producer and one of her uncles who also works with the singer were part of casualties alongside two pilots.

According to local police chief Ivan Lopes, authorities have launched an investigation into the incident.
“We still cannot say what caused the plane to crash, but there is damage that suggests that the plane collided with a (power) antenna before falling,” Lopes said.
The plane crashed in a rural area close to Caratinga, where Mendonca was billed to do a concert on Friday.
Mendonca won a 2019 Latin Grammy for best sertanejo album, and was largely popular in her native Brazil and beyond, with 22 million followers on YouTube and more than eight million monthly listeners on Spotify.
