Gunmen Assassinate Couple In Delta

A couple has been reportedly killed by unknown gunmen in Delta State.

According to reports published by Ika weekly Newspaper on Sunday, November 7, the couple, identified as Chidi and Rita Edebor were shot dead at Ekwuoma-Abavo in Ika South Local Government Area of Delta State at about 8 pm on Wednesday, November 3.

Eyewitness at the crime scene claimed to have heard a sound, around 8 pm, but no one suspected it to be a gunshot.

The witnesses further disclosed that Rita was found by the roadside in a pool of her blood, and was rushed to General Hospital Abavo, where she later died.

Her husband on the other hand died immediately from gunshot wounds.

An eyewitness said the only person who could have given the correct information was a little child of three years who was with the victims at the time of the incident.

However, when the child was interrogated, the child couldn’t explain what happened but said the assassins were two, and they wore face masks.

The families of the couple have expressed their shock at the murder, stating that both of them are peaceful people who don’t step on other people’s toes.

The body of the couple, who were parents to a set of twins have been deposited in the mortuary, while officers at Abavo Police Station had begun their investigations.

President of the General of Abavo Clan Union, Comr. Johnathan Agbejiagwe also paid a condolence visit to the bereaved family, assuring them that the murderers will be brought to the book.
