Manchester United have announced their legend, Michael Carrick the replacement for the just sacked Ole Gunnar Solksjaer.

The former United captain will take over as Manchester United’s caretaker manager following Ole Gunnar Solksjaer’s sack.

The 48-year-old Norwegian who managed the Red Devils for almost three years was relieved of his duty following United’s 4-1 defeat against Watford yesterday.

The 40-year-old, has now emerged an interim manager ahead of approaching matches.

The club made the disclosure this morning in a statement via their website.

The statement partly reads:“Manchester United announces that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has left his role as Manager…. ”

“Michael Carrick will now take charge of the team for forthcoming games, while the club looks to appoint an interim manager to the end of the season.”

Carrick may have the chance to book himself into a permanent role with a good performance on a stand-in basis.

A number of coaches in the Premier League history have succeeded as interim managers.

Remember Guus Hiddink, who replaced Jose Mourinho in 2015/2016, Chelsea’s Rafa Benitez in 2012, Guus Hiddink of Chelsea in 2009, Scott Parker of Fulham in 2018/ 2019, Darren Moore of West Brom in 2018, Sunderland’s Sam Allardyce in 2015, Craig Shakespeare of Leicester in 2017?

All of them made a mark in their positions as caretaker managers.
