The All Progressives Grand Alliance has thrown mockery shades at candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Andy Uba on Monday.

This follows the ruling by a Federal High Court in Abuja, which nullified the primary election that produced Andy Uba flag bearer of the ruling party for the November 6 polls.

Hailing the ruling by the court, APGA National Chairman, Victor Oye praised the judiciary for it’s display of courage in the face of adversity and intimidation by the APC.

Oye said Uba made his “worst mistake” following his failure to accept the victory by APGA’s Chukwuma Soludo by threatening a legal action to challenge the electoral process.

He said, “It was the right decision to reach by the court in the face of the absurdities that occurred during the APC governorship primary in Anambra State.

“The worst mistake Andy Uba made was not to have accepted defeat after the November 6, 2021 election adjudged by the whole world as free, fair and credible.
“So, we are glad that the Nigerian judiciary has continued to show courage and fairness in the face of adversity.”

Uba, who was the only candidate to reject the electoral results that declared Soludo as winner, faulted the electioneering process and declared officials as incompetent, only came in third place with 43,285.

The Independent National Electoral Commission had declared Soludo, a former governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, winner with 112,229 votes ahead of Valentine Ozigbo of the Peoples Democratic Party, who polled 53,807 votes.

Ifeanyi Ubah of the Young Progressive Party came fourth place with 21,261 votes.

In a ruling on Monday, Justice Inyang Ekwo of the Federal High Court in Abuja said that Uba was never a candidate in the Anambra election, and described the primary that produced him as illegally conducted.

Justice Ekwo further added that the plaintiff, George Moghalu proved beyond doubt that the APC did not conduct a valid primary election that produced Uba as flag bearer of the APC.

The court also ordered INEC to delete Uba from its record as a candidate in the election and ordered the APC to refund to Moghalu, the sum of N22.5m which is the amount he paid for expression of interest and nomination forms since the party failed to conduct a valid primary.

At the direct primary which has now been annulled, Uba scored 230,000 votes but only managed to garner some 43,000 votes at the main election which was won APGA’s Soludo.
