The Akwa Ibom State Government has closed down 12 fake laboratories over unprofessional operations in the state.
The 12 fake laboratories were clamped down following an instance by the State’s Ministry of Health, led by Prof. Augustine Umoh.

2. Presidency reveals Buhari’s Covid-19 status
Nigeria’s Presidency on Sunday says President Muhammadu Buhari is “quite fine” following an outbreak of infections at the Aso Rock Villa.
Buhari’s Covid-19 status was disclosed by Senior Special Assistant on New Media, Femi Adesina while speaking during Channels Television’s Politics Today on Sunday.
The Presidency also refused to disclose those infected by the dreaded disease.

3. NAFDAC warns against sec enhancing drugs
The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control, (NAFDAC) has warned Nigerian men against the use of “aphrodisiac”.
Director-General of NAFDAC, Prof. Moji Adeyeye, stated this during his New Year goodwill message to Nigerians.
Moji stated that most of the performance-enhancing drugs are not registered with NAFDAC.

6. Gunmen kill Catholic priest in Ogun
Unknown gunmen have killed a 38-year-old Catholic priest, Reverend Father Luke Adeleke, in Ogun State.
The clergyman was reportedly shot dead on Friday as he was returning from an evening mass on Christmas eve.
Father Luke was waylaid by the gunmen at Ogunmakin village, Obafemi-Owode Local Government Area of the State, and shot him dead.

7. Okorocha speaks on Henry Nwosu’s arrest.
Former governor of Imo State, Rochas Okorocha, and his successor, Hope Uzodinma have traded words over the arrest of Henry Nwosu, the son-in-law of the former.
Rochas claimed that his daughter’s clothes were torn by the police officers, while his wife was assaulted during the arrest of Henry Nwosu.
The lawmaker also said his son-in-law is being framed by the Imo State Government.

Next Cash and Carry supermarket on Sunday gutted fire in Abuja.
The cause of the fire at the shopping complex believed to belong to Peter Obi, former governor of Anambra State is yet to be ascertained by authorities.

10. Slash form fees for youth aspirants, Parliament tells APC, PDP
A member of the Nigerian Youth Parliament 5th Assembly, Ibraheem Abdullateef, has political parties across the country to slash form fees for their nomination forms ahead of the 2023 elections.
Ibraheem said the move will strengthen democracy and foster inclusion among youths and elders.
