The Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma chapter of the Academic Staff Union of Universities threatened to sue appropriate authorities of the school over an alleged dehumanization of its members.
This was contained in a 30-day notice of legal action to AAU authorities following a biometric capture exercise that was conducted recently.
ASUU labeled the biometrics verification exercise as inconclusive, compromised and fraught with irregularities.

Dr. Cyril Onogbosele; and Dr. William Odion, chairperson and Assistant Secretary respectively of the union, in a statement, lamented over the dehumanising conditions its members and other staff members were subjected to during the biometrics verification.
The statement read, “Members of the union were embarrassed, harassed, humiliated, intimidated and coerced by the biometrics verification team to make presentations for the exercise against published criteria and requirements by the university administration.
“All complaints by the union to the relevant authorities, including the visitor to the University and Governor of Edo State, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, over the anomaly and inclusive nature of the controversial biometrics verification were ignored, hence the 30-day legal pre-action notice.”
The union further asked Governor Obaseki to put a stop to the continuing waste and mismanagement of the university’s little resources on unnecessary meetings and sitting allowances of members of the university’s Special Intervention Team.
