Super Eagles striker, Taiwo Awoniyi has come out to say that Nigeria would make history in the forthcoming African Cup Of Nations.

The Super Eagles of Nigeria have arrived in Cameroon on Wednesday night.

Following the arrival, the Union Berlin forward revealed the Nigeria team is ready to smash a record and lift the trophy.

Record has it that Nigeria have won the title three times before but the 24-year-old hopes his side give it all it takes to do the country proud in the tournament that’s just two days away.

The 33rd African Cup of Nations will commence on Sunday evening when the hosts, Cameroon will be clashing against Burkina Faso.

The former Liverpool star, Awoniyi is the top scorer for the Iron Ones, in the ongoing campaign with 11 goals in all competitions.

The striker whose style of play’s likened to that of Nigeria’s all-time highest goalscorer, Rashidi Yekini revealed Nigerian optimism about the chance to standout in the tournament.

Awoniyi said ahead of the tournament: “We are all excited and determined with all our focus on the target to conquer Africa once again.”

“We are ready for AFCON and we will give our all to make the fans happy back home and abroad.”
