The new African Cup Of Nations’ (AFCON’s) prize money for the winner, runners-up, semi-finalists and the quarter-finalists has been revealed.
The disclosure followed a new development which caused the prize money to proliferate.
The step-up was a result of the decision by the Confederation of African Football (CAF).

CAF executives had to approve the uptick in prize money during a meeting in Douala, Cameroon on Friday.
Meanwhile, any country that’s fortunate to lift the 2021 AFCON will get a reward of $5 million.
The initial prize money for the winner was $4.5 million, that is now to an 11% increment.
Accordingly, the runners-up will take home $2.75 million, having risen by 10% from the initial $2.5 million.

In the same vein, the prize money for the semi-finalists and the quarter-finalists has also become augmented.
The semi-finalist will now have to pocket $2.2million when the quarter-finalists receive $1.175million.
The new AFCON prize money structure is as follows:
- Winners: $5million
