30 FGC Yauri students and one teacher from the Federal Government College Birnin Yauri in Kebbi State have been released after being held captive for seven months.

This comes approximately four months after another 30 students were released.

When bandits stormed the school on June 19, 2021, they abducted at least 102 students and eight teachers, killing two cops and one student.

Yahaya Sarki, the governor of Kebbi State’s spokesperson, confirmed the students’ release in a statement on Saturday.

“30 students of Federal Government College, Birnin Yauri, and one teacher have arrived Birnin Kebbi, Kebbi State capital following their release today,” according to the statement.

They will be subjected to medical screening and support while reuniting with their families.” On Thursday, October 21, 2022, 30 students from the same school were released and brought to Birnin Kebbi to be reunited with their families. This is in addition to the children who were previously released to their parents.

“We thank all security agencies and those who assisted in the release, and we congratulate Mr. President, Muhammadu Buhari, on his success.”
