Chelsea legend, Didier Drogba, has reacted to Côte d’Ivoire’s 3-1 victory over Algeria on Thursday at the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations, AFCON.

The Ivorian retired player saluted the Elephant’s players for the job well done against the current champions of the AFCON.

Former captain of the Ivory Coast also said that he was proud of the 1992 AFCON’s winner.

The team’s top scorer took to his Twitter to reveal his reaction.

Drogba wrote: “Great win guys!!!!!!”

“Proud of you my young brothers!!!!!! we are moving forward….”

“Rest and in a few days we put back as much or more intensity for the 8th final.”

Following the victory, Patrice Beaumelle’s citizens topped group ‘E’ with seven points.

On the other hand, the Fennec Foxes were seen knocked out of the 2021 AFCON tournament after the loss.

Meanwhile, the Desert Warriors have amassed only one point in three matches so far.

Algeria began the ongoing tournament with a goalless draw against Sierra Leone.

The team however, lost 1-0 to Equatorial Guinea before the 3-1 defeat to Ghana today.

Franck Kessie, Ibrahim Sangare and Nicolas Pepe scored the three goals for Ivory.

Meanwhile, Manchester City forward, Riyad Mahrez could not convert the penalty awarded to Algeria at an hour-mark.

Sofiane Bendebka later cancelled one goal with a headed strike to make it 3-1, seventeen minutes to the end of the match.
