40-year-old Olasunkanmi Oluwole, has been arrested by the operatives of Ondo State Police Command for the alleged murder of his 37-year-old girlfriend.

The police has commenced investigation into the case to find out what led to the death of Biola Soyinka as she was murdered in a hotel in Oke-Igbo, Ile-Oluji/Oke-Igbo Local Government Area, Ondo State.

The suspect, Olasunkanmi Oluwole, who happens to be a mechanic and father of two was said to have invited the deceased from Lagos to his base in Ondo State on January 3rd, 2022 and
camped her outside his home.

He later called Biola’s younger sister to inform her that her sister was dead.

It was further learnt that after Biola was confirmed dead at the hospital, Oluwole attempted to escape but was caught and handed over to the police.

Ars Funmilayo Odunlami, Spokesperson of the State Police Command, who confirmed the incident said the suspect has been arrested and taken into custody, while the corpse of the victim has been deposited at the morge awaiting autopsy.

The PPRO said the matter is still under investigation at the Criminal Investigation Department of the command. She added that the suspect would be charged to court following the completion of investigations.

“The case is still at the state CID for further investigation and after the completion of the investigation, he would be charged to court,” she stated.

Akeem Jinadu, the deceased elder brother, speaking to newsmen said his sister was strangled to death which is contrary to the suspect’s claim that she slumped.

“On the 16th of January, we received a call from Oluwole that my sister Biola had passed on. When we asked what happened to her? He (suspect) said Biola became unconscious after she slumped at about 4 am,” he narrated.

“Oluwole said by the time he rushed her to the hospital, the doctors declared her dead. When we asked him to bring her corpse back to Lagos, he demanded that we send money for transportation.

“Contrary to what Oluwole said when the police arrested him, there were marks sustained from beating on her body when we went to identify the remains at the morgue.

“Her neck, face, and body had dark patches because she was a fair person. From the state of her corpse it is very oblivious she didn’t die from falling, rather the marks on her body show she was beaten and strangled to death.”
