It was a heart-rending and bellyaching news a few days ago when it was reported about the killing of a 15-year-old promising Rofiat who met her untimely death in the hands of her supposed lover soliu who masterminded her killing alongside: wariz Oladeinde 17, Abdulgafar lukman 19 years old, and mustakeen Balogun (age unreported). The killing was said to be for money rituals.
The victims were supposed to battle with their WAEC examination but had become desperate that would warrant them killing for money’s sake without any iota of remorse.
This piece of traumatizing news had so far gone viral on various media and chiefly the social media platforms and everyone seems dazed and bewildered as to what may have triggered this ugly incident in our society and hence sued for justice to be done to atone the death of Rofiat.

In a similar development, it was reported that all of the accused except mustakeen Balagun who is beyond 18 would be meant to face the death penalty.
There has been a disquiet as to the legality of the sentencing of teenagers to death and a peep in the records of some of our various high courts answered the worrisome questions above. For instance, Patrick Ozeoma, a teenager was sentenced to death by hanging in September 2009 by a Yola high court for culpable homicide, and also, the Ekiti state high court sentenced one Tajudeem Ogunloye for a crime of murder, conspiracy, and unlawful possession of the human skull.
There is no doubt that God indeed had a better plan for these boys who may have been apprehended by their greed and lust for money.
