Another tragedy for the death occurred when a mysterious fire destroyed some corpses kept in the morgue at the Agagbe community in Benue State’s Gwer West Local Government Area.

The incident happened around 5:00 p.m. on Friday at the mortuary of St. Francis Xavier Parish Agagbe.

According to a local, some of the corpses deposited at the morgue had been burned beyond recognition.

“We don’t know how many corpses were in the morgue, and the cause of the fire is still unknown; we just discovered that the morgue caught fire on Friday evening,” a local said.

SP Catherine Anene, a spokesperson for the State Police Command, confirmed the incident at the morgue, stating that six corpses were burned.

“It’s true, the DPO is on the case, and the information we have is that the fire started somewhere and only spread to the morgue.”

Six bodies were burned, and the investigation is still ongoing,” Anene said.
