The Christian Association of Nigeria in the 19 Northern States and Abuja has expressed concern about the country’s lingering fuel scarcity.

The CAN stated that the commodity’s continued scarcity had inflicted additional pain on helpless Nigerians who were already facing other challenges such as poverty and insecurity.

Joseph Hayab, Vice-Chairman of the association in the North and Abuja, stated this in a statement issued in Kaduna on Tuesday.

The statement, titled “fuel scarcity has doubled Nigerian sufferings,” stated, “The continuous scarcity of fuel in Nigeria and the pains of having adulterated fuel in circulation have further increased the hardship Nigerians have been experiencing for about a month now.”

CAN is concerned and wonders who is to blame for the poor quality of the product and its scarcity.

We are compelled to inquire as to who our Minister of Petroleum is. What has he and the ministry done to avoid and correct the situation?

Do the pains we are experiencing not warrant a public apology or an honorable resignation from the minister for failing to provide the service Nigerians expect?

“Nigerians should not continue to suffer as a result of the negligence and incompetence of those in positions of public trust.” Why should our leaders test our citizens’ patience?

“Our citizens are regarded as the most patient people on the planet because we have endured bad governance and poor service delivery, which has resulted in deaths that could have been avoided by many family members, friends, and associates.

“How can we be major oil producers but have failed to repair our refineries and find long-term solutions to the problem of oil subsidy?”
