Super Eagles striker, Odion Ighalo, has revealed what happened after his formal club, Al Shabab blocked barred him from participating in the last African Cup of Nations.

The former Manchester United star disclosed that there existed ill-feeling between him and the White Lion who prevented him from playing at the 33rd edition of AFCON.

Therefore, the 32-year-old ditched Péricles Chamusca’s side to join their Saudi Arabian rivals, Al Hilal.

Meanwhile, Ighalo was part of Al-Za’eem’s squad which faced Chelsea in the final of the FIFA Club World Cup last weekend.

Although, the Century Club suffered a 2-1 loss to the Blues, Ighalo’s impact during the game can never be underrated.

FIFA even emphasized that he tormented Thomas Tuchel’s team with his strength and ability to turn, producing two breathtaking flicks along the way.

Ighalo told ESPN: “I was not happy with them and we decided to part ways because the Nations Cup that I didn’t go to caused a lot of bad blood.”

“Four hours until my flight [to Cameroon], they had not sent me the exit visa. I called the team manager, and he told me they did not get an invitation. But I had a copy of the invitation that was sent because they copied me in the email.”

He added: “We had all this back and forth going on, I changed the ticket to the next day, and then the third day, and they still did not send me the visa. At that point I knew they did not want me to go.”

“My anger was that they should have told me straight up, not smiling in my face one day and then acting a different way. That is why I decided to leave.”
