Youths in the All Progressive Congress have asked the party’s leadership to follow President Buhari’s advice on youth inclusion in its affairs.

They also asked the party and the president to back a younger successor.

Comrade Terver Aginde, APC North-Central Zonal Youth Leader, disclosed this on Wednesday in Abuja during a one-day sensitization and capacity-building retreat on active and meaningful participation in leadership.

“I am pleased that three Nigerian youths have come out to contest positions as high as the national chairmanship of the party, he said. We’re making progress on that, and we’ll line up behind them to see if we can pull it off.

“We are also encouraging young people to run for President Buhari’s seat.” We would even prefer a young person between the ages of 40 and 50 to succeed Buhari.

“And one of the reasons I admire President Buhari is that he has made politics unappealing and uninteresting to some people, as it was previously, by ensuring that there is not enough money in circulation for such people.

“So, with or without money, we can take over the leadership of this country if we band together.”

The main goal of the meeting, according to Aginde, was for APC youths to come together and build strategic methods to position themselves in preparation for taking over the leadership of the country.

“There is no other time than now, and fortunately, we have received our dear President’s support to participate, contest for leadership positions, both at the party level and as well as contesting for all leadership positions, ranging from Presidency, Governor, Senate, House of Representatives, and State House Assembly positions.”

“To accomplish these goals, we must discuss, strategize, and unite in order to reclaim our rightful leadership positions in our beloved country.”

“My distinguished comrades, our party has made significant progress under the leadership of H E Mai Mala Buni, but much more remains to be done, and what remains to be done now falls squarely on the shoulders of the youth and women,” he stated.
