This is coming even as the Coronavirus pandemic continue to disrupt academic activities in the country, forcing the National Open University of Nigeria, NOUN to implement new strategies to keep them going.

According to the management of NOUN, the virtual matriculation exercise is billed to take place on July 13, 2020.

The new development is stated to be inline with the guidelines mapped out to further fight against the spread of the lethal virus.

The News Agency of Nigeria, NAN accredited the report to Ibrahim Sheme, the director of media and publicity, NOUN.

Ibrahim stated that the virtual matriculation was adopted by the school in clear obedience to the new guidelines given to battle the coronavirus.

Vice Chancellor of the National Open University, NOUN, Abdalla Adamu, is expected to deliver an address during the virtual matriculation exercise.

Oaths would then by administered on the students by the registrar of the tertiary institution, Mr Felix Idoka.

Reopening of Schools: Federal Government Gives New Directive

The school has directed all matriculation bound students to get their Zoom apps ready to go live during the event proper.

Ibrahim revealed that the school would make the secret key for the video app available to students before the stated date.

Meanwhile, the new has now totally cancelled out a previous announcement that called on students to get their matriculation gowns in order to participate in the event.

The management of the National Open University of Nigeria, NOUN, had earlier announced a postponement of it’s 19th Matriculation Ceremony indefinitely in line with the Federal Government’s steps to contain the Coronavirus pandemic
