The Coalition of Concerned Northern Forums (CCNF) has called on the NNPC’s Group Managing Director, Mallam Mele Kolo Kyari, and the Chief Executive Officer of Nigeria Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (MDPRA), Engr. Farouk Ahmed, to resign within 72 hours due to the country’s persistent fuel scarcity.

The group also demanded that the NNPC management make public the genuine and complete names of those involved in the current scarcity of petroleum products throughout the country.

According to a joint statement issued by the group’s chairman and spokesman, Mallam Ibrahim Bature and Comrade Abdulsalam Moh’d Kazeem, respectively, noting that if our demands are not met in the next three (3) working days, we will occupy all NNPC zonal offices and its subsidiaries across our region and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).”

The statement explained that it was more than just a threat, and that its members would respond with full force after the expiration of their ultimatum, serving as a litmus test for the government’s fight against corruption and indiscipline.

“The mistake made by NNPC under the current management has cost us a lot as a nation; for example, they claimed it will cost our nation over N200 billion to mop up and sanitize the adulterated fuel while at the same time we don’t have enough facilities, so they’ll have to evacuate the bad products before we can get our hands on the new ones.

As of today, the aforementioned products have already harmed many automobiles, generators, machines, and other various pieces of citizenry equipment across the country.”

It bemoaned that the NNPC had tried several times to cover up the importation of the fake fuel and what it called “their gross incompetence,” claiming that they had all witnessed how those they accused of importing the product with high Methanol qualities above their required standards came up with superior point and position to vindicate their companies while maintaining that they knew nothing about it.

According to the statement, the NNPC should bury their heads in shame, stop chasing shadows, and be patriotic in their dealings with Nigerians.

It was noted that the NNPC’s quality inspection unit, which included GMO, SGS, Geochem, and G&G, did not conduct any tests before the aforementioned products were discharged.

The NNPC, according to the statement, had dragged the country backward due to “its deliberate errors” in importing the fake fuel.
