Nigeria’s Federal Government has again stated that it is considering to reopen schools in the country once the current ban imposed on interstate travels is lifted.
This was disclosed by the Minister of State Education, Hon. Emeka Nwajiuba on Monday during the daily brief by the Presidential Task Force on Coronavirus.
The minister also dismissed reports on social media with regards to them resumption of school activities in the country.

Nwajiuba stated emphatically that the federal government would only call for the reopening of schools after due consultations with medical experts and all areas must be marked safe to avoid an outbreak like seen in other nations.
He reiterated the government’s commitment to protecting school children in the face of the pandemic, stating that the children will not be experimented with.
Still emphasizing on the spike in number of infected persons in other nations where lockdown was eased to allow resumption of school activities, he maintained that the government is doing it’s best to avoid the need to shutdown schools right after opening them.
He stated that the government is planning on allowing students in exiting years resume school immediately after the interstate travel ban is lifted.
Nwajiuba opined that there is no way students would be allowed to resume school if teachers cannot resume with them.
“We are looking at somewhere after when this interstate lockdown is lifted because we need to have that kind of openness for even the children to move”, the minister said.
