Super Eagles Will Qualify for World Cup on One Condition – Eguavoen

Former Nigeria international Tijani Babaginda has told interim Super Eagles coach Austine Eguavoen that if he selects the right striker to start against Ghana’s Black Stars later this year, Nigeria will be awarded a ticket to the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

In March, Nigeria and Ghana will compete in a two-leg World Cup qualifier.

The first leg will be held on Friday, March 25, at Ghana’s Cape Coast Stadium.

The return leg between the West African rivals will take place on Tuesday, March 29, at Abuja’s Moshood Abiola National Stadium.

The winner will receive one of five tickets to represent Africa in Qatar 2022, but Babaginda believes that the impressive form of Victor Osimhen, Odion Ighalo, and Sadiq Umar, among others, will give Eguavoen a difficult decision in terms of who to select for the Ghana match.

“There is no doubt that the current Super Eagles strikers are doing well in Europe.”

The likes of Osimhen, Ighalo, Sadiq, and others are scoring goals for their respective clubs, which bodes well for the team. Again, Eguavoen will have a difficult time deciding who to select for the game against Ghana.

“If he can get the right strikers to start, the team will choose the ticket to Qatar,” Babaginda said.
