Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has challenged young Nigerians to compete with the elders if they want to rule the country.

After a closed-door meeting with former President Olusegun Obasanjo in Abeokuta, Ogun State’s capital, Atiku spoke with reporters.

When asked to respond to calls for older politicians to step down to make way for the youths, Atiku stated that the youths should also run.

“Let the young people compete.” It’s a competition. Atiku responded, “It’s a democracy.”

He revealed that he would soon declare his intention to run for president in 2023.

Atiku also expressed confidence in winning the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) presidential nomination, asking, “Have I ever failed to win the ticket?”

I came here to meet with my boss.

“We’ll let you know when I declare, and we’ll make a formal announcement,” he said.

Atiku later met with Oba Adedotun Gbadebo, the Alake and Paramount Ruler of Egbaland, in his palace.
