Popular Nollywood and Yoruba actor, John Adewuni, best known as Tafa Oloyede death was announced by the Osun state Secretary of the Theater Arts and Motion Picture Producers Association of Nigeria, Ademola Oyedokun.

Oyedokun stated that the late Tafa Oloyede died in Osogbo on Tuesday.

2. Former Football Manager, Peter Osugo

Former football administrator and journalist, Peter Osugo, popularly known as PECOS died at 92 years on January 24, 2022.

Osugo, who was an Editor of Sunday Times in 1975, renamed the Nigeria national team from Red Devils to Green Eagles.

He was a native of the Umu-Obi Osugo Royal family of Ase Community in Ndokwa East Local Government Area of present day Delta State.

4. Emir Of Jama’are, Muhammadu Wabi III

The Emir of Jama’are in Bauchi State, Alh. Muhammadu Wabi III died in the early hours of Sunday, February 6, 2022 following a prolonged ailment.

Daily Report Nigeria Emir gathered that the illness has reportedly kept the Emir from public view for a couple of years.

His Royal Highness Alh. (Dr) Ahmad Muhammad Wabi lll (OON) was born in 1938 at the Royal household of Jama’are.

He was the longest-serving Emir in the history of Bauchi State.

He spent 52 years on the throne as the Emir of Jama’are before his death.

4. Former Anglican Bishop, Peter Adebiyi

Peter Adebiyi, a former Bishop of the Anglican Diocese of Lagos West, died in the early hours of Friday, february 11.

Born in 1943, Adebiyi served as Bishop of the Lagos West diocese between 1999 and 2013 when he retired.

His demise was announced by his successor, Bishop Olusola Odedeji, via a message to members of the Diocese on Friday morning.

5. Pastor Ezekiel Atang

The General overseer of God’s House of Refuge, Uyo, Akwa Ibom state,
Pastor Ezekiel Atang, died on Monday evening after he went into coma.

Jonathan Atang, a brother to Pastor Ezekiel confirmed the news on Monday night with a cryptic Facebook post which he later deleted.

Pastor Atang who died at 49 is an indigene of Ikot Udota in Eket local government area of Akwa Ibom state, and he served under the ministry of a spiritual mentor for fifteen years before starting his own, precisely on the 16th of April 2006.

6. Nollywood Actor, Lari Williams

Veteran Nollywood actor, Lari Williams reportedly died at his home in Ikom, Cross River State, following a protracted illness.

He was popular for his roles in hit soap operas such as Village Headmaster, Ripples, and Mirror in The Sun.

The inaugural president of the Actors’ Guild of Nigeria (AGN), who had a career that spanned over five decades died aged 81.

7. Nollwood Star Romanus Amuta

Veteran Nollywood actor, Romanus Amuta, popularly known for playing Natty in ‘New Masquerade’, died at the age of 79.

According to family sources, the actor died in a hospital in Lagos on February 9, 2022 after battling a long-winded disease.
Amuta was said to have hailed from Ukana in Udi LGA of Enugu State.

The actor started his career in the media landscape with the Daily Times newspaper afterward, he delved into the movie industry.

He came into the limelight after featuring in the ‘New Masquerade’ which was recorded as one of the most popular TV series in the 80s.

Amuta is survived by Cordelia, his wife, and six children.

8. Kwara PDP Spokesman, Kunle Ashaolu

The Peoples Democratic Party “PDP” Publicity Secretary in Kwara State, Tunde Ashaolu, died a few hours after celebrating his birthday.

Late Ashaolu celebrated his birthday on Friday, February 25, and was hosted by his friends and party members including former Senate President Bukola Saraki, to a get-together on Saturday, February 26.

On Sunday, February 27, at about 7.30pm, he took ill, moments later he was pronounced dead by the doctor.His cause of death was however not disclosed.

9. Complete Sports Publisher, Ojeagbase

Fact File: Prominent Nigerians That Died in February 2022 | Daily Report Nigeria

Veteran Nigerian journalist, Dr. Emmanuel Ojeagbase, demise was announced on Monday by A representative of the family, Mr Julius Ojeagbase.

Ojeagbase was the Founder and Executive Chairman of Complete Communications Limited, publishers of Complete Sports newspapers, SuccessDigest magazine.

According to the statement, Ojeagbase died on Saturday, February 26, 2022, in Atlanta, the United States of America following a brief illness.

Ojeagbase, who hailed from Uzebba in Owan West of Edo State, rose to limelight into for pioneering the publication of sports news in Nigeria when he established Sports Souvenir weekly newspaper in 1984.

The media entrepreneur, who was also a retired soldier of the Nigerian Army, started his career into sports journalism as a stringer at the Daily Times newspapers in the mid-1970s.

Between 1984 and 1994, Ojeagbase introduced several other pioneering sports titles including Complete Football magazine, Complete Football International, and International Soccer Review into the Nigerian sports market.

He is survived by his wife, Pastor (Mrs) Esther Ojeagbase, children as well as grandchildren and other relatives.

Burial arrangements will be announced by the family, according to the statement.
