Deputy Inspector General of Police, Joseph Egbunike is Dead | Daily Report Nigeria

Joseph Egbunike, the Deputy Inspector General of Police in-charge of the Force Criminal Investigations Department, is dead.

It was learnt that he slumped and died in his office in Abuja in the late hours of Tuesday March 8.

The Late DIG Egbunike hails from Onitsha in Anambra State and was the most senior police officer from the Southeast region of the country.

Egbunike, before he was appointed a DIG in 2020, headed the Force Finance Department, and subsequently deployed to head Force Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department of the Force (FCIID).

He also headed the Special Investigation Panel constituted by the Inspector General of Police, Usman Baba, to investigate suspended head of the Police Intelligence Response Team, Abba Kyari, after being indicted by the Department of Justice in a money laundering case.
