Obiano upon her arrival, walked towards her, verbally attacked her with her voice raised.
Ojukwu also said that Obiano questioned her presence at the inauguration ceremony if she had come to celebrate their last day in office.
The former ambassador disclosed that she warned the former governor’s wife to stay away but she tried touching her head to remove her head tie. It was at that point she slapped Obiano to prevent further attacks.
However, Mrs. Obiano has given a conflicting account.
In a statement released by Obiano’s spokesperson, Chidiebele Obika, Obiano said that she had only approached her for a normal friendly banters but was slapped and pushed away instead.
She said that she couldn’t return the slap but wondered what brought about “so much anger and hate” that would cause a former diplomat to be unable to “manage herself in public.”
