Senator Hadi Sirika, Minister of Aviation, announced on Wednesday that the federal government would distribute a total of N92,123,175,305.77 across a number of works to be carried out at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja over a twelve-month period.

The total sum for the construction of a second runway at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja was approved by the Federal Executive Council, FEC.

President Muhammadu Buhari presided over the virtual FEC in the Council Chamber of the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

The Council’s approval came just 24 hours after the new terminal building at Murtala Mohammed International Airport (MMIA) in Lagos was dedicated.

Recall that President Buhari, while inaugurating the new terminal building at the MMAI in Lagos on Tuesday, directed the Minister of Finance, Budget, and National Planning, Mrs Zainab Ahmed, to seek funding for the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja’s second runway project.

When asked how the government plans to fund the project, Sirika said during a briefing of State House correspondents at the end of the FEC meeting that the administration would use the same pattern it had used to fund all of its other projects across sectors to accomplish the new task.
