Ibrahim Sikiru, a 27-year-old man, was arrested on March 30, 2022, for the murder of his biological father.
The suspect was apprehended after a complaint was lodged at Onipanu divisional headquarters by one Abiodun Sunday, the deceased’s neighbor, who reported that the deceased, Mumuni Ibrahim, a night security guard, came home and found his son still sleeping. He asked the son why he was still sleeping at that time of day, which enraged the suspect to the point where he pulled out a cutlass and cut the victim in five different places.
Following the report, the DPO Onipanu division, CSP Bamidele Job, quickly mobilized his men and moved to the scene, where the suspect was apprehended and the victim was taken to Hospital for treatment.When questioned, the suspect, who is suspected of being a cultist, has no reasonable explanation for his actions.
On March 31, 2022, the victim died while receiving treatment at a general hospital, and his family insisted on burying him according to his religion’s dictates.
Confirming the incident, the command’s spokesperson, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, stated that the state commissioner of police, CP Lanre Bankole, has ordered the suspect’s immediate transfer to the state criminal investigation and intelligence department’s homicide section for further investigation and diligent prosecution.
