Details have emerged of how the family of abducted managing director of Bank of Agriculture, Alwan Ali-Hassan, reportedly coughed out the sum of N100 million, to secure his release from terrorists.
Mr Hassan regained his freedom on Wednesday, nine days after his abduction alongside hundreds of passengers onboard an Abuja-Kaduna train on March 28.
While the terrorists claimed no ransom was paid in a short video taken with the mobile phone of the managing director, family sources told Daily Nigerian that N100million was paid before his release.

The report says the abductors sent a video of harsh experience the captives were facing in the custody of the terrorists, including Mr Hassan, in a bid to raise ransom.
“A few days earlier, they sent the video of their harrowing condition in order to raise their stake. Alwan was always saying ‘give them whatever amount they want’. So the family gave them what they insisted on… that is N100million,” a family source said.
The terrorists were said to have initially asked the family to take the money to a forest in Katsina State on Tuesday, before making a U-turn, asking them to make a detour to another forest in Kaduna.
The family emissaries were said to have journeyed for long hours in the bush, before the terrorists appeared fully armed in their hundreds to collect the ransom.
