Hisbah Seizes 1,426 Bottles of Alcoholic Beverages in Jigawa

The Jigawa Hisbah Board seized 1,426 bottles of various alcoholic beverages in the state’s two local government units.

Ibrahim Dahiru, the state’s Hisbah commander, confirmed this to the News Agency of Nigeria on Thursday, April 6 in Dutse, the state capital.

According to Dahiru, the command also took a 25-litre jerrican of local beer known as “burukutu.”

The alcoholic beverages were seized when Hisbah officers investigated hotels, drinking establishments, and other locations in the two impacted zones, he stated.

The raids also resulted in the arrest of 15 individuals, one of which was a woman.

On April 3, 177 bottles of various beers, 25 litres of burukutu, and 14 suspects were apprehended in the Gumel local government district, according to him.

He said:
“The Hisbah raided three beer parlours in Gumel LGA namely Awala Hotel, located on Gujungu road; Sabuwar Sahara, located behind the LG Secretariat; and Gidan Mama Mai Burkutu.

In these raids, we were able to arrest 14 persons, including a woman who sells burukutu.

In these raids also, we were able to seize 177 bottles of beer and 25 litres of burukutu.”

Dahiru further revealed that when the Hisbah raided a beer parlor in the Takur Aduwa district of Dutse on March 4, they confiscated 1,249 bottles of different beer and 143 empty cartons.

Again, he said:
“On March 4, Hisbah personnel raided Bone beer parlour in Takur Aduwa in Dutse local government area.

During this raid, we confiscated 1,249 bottles of beer, 143 empty cartons, a car with registration number MG 194 XA.”

One person suspected of being a beer owner was also arrested, according to Dahiru.

All of the objects and suspects were given over to the police for future action, according to the commander, who urged locals to follow the law.

The Hisbah commander went on to say that consuming alcoholic beverages is illegal throughout the state.

He, on the other hand, thanked locals for their support and collaboration with the board, promising that the command will continue to battle immoral activities and social vices throughout the state.
