BREAKING: 45% of PVCs Invalid Ahead 2023 – INEC

BREAKING: 45% of PVCs Invalid Ahead 2023 - INEC | Daily Report Nigeria

The Independent National Electoral Commission has announced a whooping 45% of registered Permanent Voters Cards as invalid.

INEC Chairman, Mahmood Yakubu stated this on Wednesday, while giving updates on the Commission’s preparation towards the 2023 general election.

Mahmood said over 45% of registered voters were found to be invalid as of January 14, 2022.

He however said a total of 1,390,519 Permanent Voter Cards are valid as of the time of making the declaration.

Mahmood, who described the development as challenging, also noted that the Commission would continue to clean up the voters’ register.

The chairman of INEC further expressed fears that security challenges may pose a threat to the success of the 2023 general elections.

“We are all concerned about the security challenges. But the environment must be secured for INEC to conduct the election.

“We are liaising with the security agencies to secure the environment for us to Conduct the 2023 elections,” Mahmood said.
