The Ijaw National Congress has announced plans to sanction sons and daughters working against the Delta Ijaw Governorship agenda in 2023.
In a statement signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Engr. Ezonebi Oyakemeagbegha, the INC expressed sadness over unscrupulous elements used to sabotage the efforts of leaders and critical stakeholders towards mobilizing support from sister ethnic nationalities for an Ijaw Governor come 2023.
Oyakemeagbegha said it was worrisome that sons of Ijaw seldom make public statements depicting that Ijaws have shelved their quest to produce the next Governor.

He described these statements as provocative and despicable, and questioned the rationale behind Ijaw sons acting the way they do over temporal personal gains.
Ezonebi said the statements have further added salt to injury by raising thoughts that make Ijaws appear inferior to other ethnic nationalities in the state.
The INC labeled such unscrupulous elements as enemies within playing the role of the biblical Judas, that would be made to pay for their sins at the appropriate time
“They think they are playing politics, but this is betrayal at its best and there are consequences for that”, the read in part.
The apex Ijaw group exercised optimism that victory was sure for the Ijaws in the governorship race, stressing that the enemies within would be put to shame.
It encouraged Ijaws contesting the governorship election to not to be deterred over the despicable circumstances.
The INC also commended Governor Ifeanyi Okowa for consistently assuring aspirants of a level playing field during the party primaries.
It also said it was sure Okowa would not forget the huge role Ijaws played towards his emergence in 2015 and 2015 in a hurry.
