The Government of Britain has secured access to 90 million doses of potential COVID-19 vaccines in deals with BioNTech, Pfizer and Valneva.

This was disclosed by Britain’s Business Secretary, Alok Sharma. According to Sharma, Britain would now have access to three different types of vaccines being developed internationally and domestically.

Meanwhile, Britain has also launched a website for volunteers to sign up for the vaccine studies.

“I urge everyone who can to back the national effort and sign up to the NHS COVID-19 vaccine research registry to help find a vaccine as soon as possible,” Sharma said.

The deal which involves 30 million doses of the said vaccines are being developed by BioNTech and German firm, Pfizer, while about another 60 million of doses are created by France’s Valneva.

Britain which have been one of the worst affected countries globally since the inception of COVID-19 outbreak has suffered more than 45,000 deaths.
