The plan of Ijaws to field a sole candidate in the forthcoming governorship primary election of the Peoples Democratic Party in Delta State, has received a huge boost.
This is even as an Evaluation Committee headed by former Vice Chancellor of DELSU, Prof. Victor Peretomene, submits its assessment report to the Ijaw National Congress, INC.
The was confirmed by the INC National Publicity Secretary, Ezonebi Oyakemeagbegha, via a statement on Friday.

In the statement obtained by Daily Report Nigeria, the INC Spokesman said the report by the Committee setup by Alaowei Broderick Bozimo has been received by the apex body.
Ezonebi said the resolutions of the report would be made public after further consultations with critical stakeholders.
He added that the statement was the first official pronouncement on the debate for a sole candidate ahead the primaries, and called for unity among Ijaws even as the INC remains committed to the Ijaw governorship course.
He said, “It has come to the notice of the INC of recent online publications making rounds on the social media as regards the Sole Governorship aspirant.
“The INC wish to state that, the report of the committee set up by the Alaowei team headed by Prof Peretomone has been received.
“The recommendations shall soon be made public after presenting the same to critical stakeholders.
“This should be seen as the first official statement of the INC President on this matter.
“The INC which to assure the Ijaw nation of its total commitment to this project
“The INC calls for total unity and advises that we remain calm while we wait for the needful.”
Three Ijaw sons make up the bulk of aspirants vying for the governorship ticket of the PDP in Delta State.
Senator James Manager, Braduce Angozi and incumbent Deputy Governor, Kingsley Otuaro are all in the race to succeed Governor Ifeanyi Okowa in Dennis Osadebeh House come 2023.
However, the Ijaw National Congress led by Prof. Benjamin Okaba has consistently echoed its commitment to ensuring that the governorship goes to the Ijaws.
