Delta Assembly Passes Community Security Bill

The Delta State House of Assembly (DTHA)has passed a bill seeking for the establishment of the State Community Security Corps Agency 2020 into law after it was read for the third time on the floor of the House on Wednesday.

The reading of the bill which was sequel to a motion moved by the Majority Leader, Hon Tim Owhefere, was adopted by the House at the plenary presided over by the Speaker, Chief Sherrif Oborevwori.

The House had given considerations to the report of the joint House Committees on Special Bills and Security Matters with both committees earlier scrutinizing the bill.

The Speaker of the House, Chief Sheriff Oborevwori commended the committees for painstakingly working on the proposed law, saying that the 38 clause bill will help to further promote peace, security, and good governance in the state.

Governor Ifeanyi Okowa forwarded the Delta State Community Security Corps Agency Bill to the House two, with the aim of establishing a community-based security outfit to help maintain law and order in the state.
